Vioma Huhn Farren

Vioma Bell Huhn was born January 11, 1879 in Dublin, Indiana. She was the 9th of 10 children born to her German immigrant parents Anna Hofnagle and John Adam Huhn. Not long after her birth the large family crossed the state border into Ohio where the youngest son was born. The family continued to move several more times, first back to Indiana, on to Illinois, and finally settling in Iowa.
On November 26, 1901 Vioma married William Ross Farren. The newlyweds settled near Vioma’s family and had a son Archie Leo Farren born in August 1902. Most of Vioma’s siblings lived nearby and the family was very close to each other. In 1903 her mother Anna passed away. Just 3 years later on Thanksgiving day her father passed away at one of his daughter’s houses. Not long after John’s death William, Vioma, and Archie packed up their belongings and headed south.
In 1908 the family had settled in Wheeler, Texas where they bought a farm and worked their own land. In October of 1937 William died of coronary thrombosis leaving Vioma a widow. She remained on their farm after William’s death. Archie bought the farm next door and Vioma was able to be around for her three grandchildren when Archie went off to fight in WWII.
On August 7, 1957 Viola died of heart disease and circulatory failure leaving behind her only son, 3 grandchildren, and her sister Ella.
