On March 13, 1924, at just 16 years old, Nannie married Arlie Romines, who was 10 years older then she was. Just 10 months later their first son Artur Lee was born. In total Nannie had 11 children between 1925 and 1947. Arthur (1925), Ruby (1926), Lois (1927), Thelma (1929), Alena (1931), Dorothy (1933), Louella (1935), Donald (1937), Peggy (1940), John Thomas (1942), and Judi (1947.)
The family started out in Texas but between 1927 and 1935 they moved to Hobart, Oklahoma where Arlie worked on a farm. Eventually the family moved back to Texas. Arlie ran a farm and cotton gin and Nannie took care of the house and children.
On September 3, 1947 tragedy struck the family. John Thomas was involved in a car accident. He sustained a head injury and passed away, he was just 5 years old.
Some how Nannie carried on after the loss of her young son. Her and Arlie lived in Texas for the rest of their lives, watching the rest of their children grow up, marry and in some cases, move away. Arlie passed away in 1971, they were married for 47 years. She would also bury two of her daughters, Alena and Dorothy.
On August 16, 2001 Nannie Bell passed away at the age of 94. She left behind 8 children, 1 sister, and many grandchildren.
