Carl Frederick Waldemer "Walter" Wegener,

Carl Frederick Waldemer Wegener, also known as Walter, was born July 26, 1882 in New York City to Sophia and Frederick Wegener. The 4th of 5 surviving children of the couple. His parents were both born in Germany and had immigrated to America in 1887 with his older sister and two brothers. He also had a younger brother born in 1884.

In 1893 both of his parents passed away within months of each other. Walter moved in with his sister Martha and her husband George in Brooklyn.

In 1905 he married Jessie O’Conner and moved to Queens. There they had two children, Richard (1906) and Marion (1908.) Sadly Marion passed away in 1912 at the age of 4.

Walter had worked in the stationary and printing business since he entered the workforce. He began as a salesmen and eventually in 1919 he and an associate bought the JH Bertine and Co printing company.

On August 7, 1922 at the age of 40 Walter passed away leaving behind his wife and 16 year old son Richard.
