Mary Polly Souerheber Scott

Mary Polly Souerheber was born on December 28 1899 in Pennsylvania. She had at least one older sister born to her parents Mary Green and Valentine Souerhaber. Two more sons would later join the family. Valentine was a fur trader and the family moved around often.

At the age of 18 Mary married Benjamin Colegate Scott. Benjamin was from Maryland and a veteran of the War of 1812. The couple moved to Daviss County, Kentucky and started their family. They had 5 children, Lavisa (1819), Alicy (1821), Camillus (1827), and twins Milly (1838) and Savilla (1838). Sadly Milly passed away at only 5 months old.

The Scott family was well respected in the area. Benjamin ran a large and successful farm that is son Camillus took over after his death in 1857. After Benjamin passed Mary moved in with her daughter Savilla and her family.

Mary passed away on January 21 1883 at the age of 83. She was survived by her daughters Alicy and Savilla and son Camillus, 32 grandchildren, and many grandchildren.

Mary is my 5th great grandmother.
