George Andrew Pryor

George Andrew Pryor was born on June 10 1875 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. He was the third child of his parents Sarah Thurman and John Pryor, who already had two sons. The family would quickly grow to include 3 more sons and 6 daughters (two of those daughters died in infancy). John died either shortly before or shortly after the birth of their last son in 1891. By 1900 most of the family had moved to Calhoun, Kentucky.

Sitting down is Sarah Thurman Pryor, George's mother (and my great great grandmother. These are all but one of her children though I am not sure who is who. Among them is George and my great grandfather Conrad. This would have been taken sometime between 1905-1915.

George and all of his brothers became farmers like their father had been.

In 1905 29 year old George married 17 year old Nora Burden. The couple had 7 children, Earl *a girl* (1907), Mamie (1909), Martha (1911) who died sometime before 1920, John (1912), Levi (1915), Mary Sue (1918), and Lola Mae (1921). George was a tobacco farmer and his son John worked with him. As the children grew and started their own families they all remained a close knit family. They had regular, large, family reunions despite some of their daughters moving away from home.
