Week 4 #52in52: Favorite Photo

Week 4 of #52AncestorsIn52Weeks prompt is "Favorite Photo"

This is one of the hardest questions to answer. I have been truly blessed that I have so many photos of relatives. I inherited my nana’s old photo albums, my Uncle Todd scanned all the photos my Grandma and Pop Pop had from their families, and my husband’s Aunt Debbie allowed me to scan tons of old photos from their side of the family. Not to mention all the photos I have gained thru Ancestry and cousins and researching. So how was I going to choose my favorite photo?

Perhaps this one of my 5x great grandmother Mary Polly Sourhaver Scott who is the oldest great grandparent I have a picture of, being born in 1799.

Or this picture of my Great Grandparents Gladys Immel and Richard Wegener, this picture had to be in maybe the early 1930s and yet I know I have taken similiar pictures in a photobooth with my husband like this.

Maybe even this picture of myself right after my daughter's birth that my Uncle candidly captured. It reminds me the pure joy I was feeling at becoming a mother for the first time.

But ultimately I decided on this picture of my great great grandmother Loretta and her sisters Mary, Anna, Catherine, Gertrude, and Mabel. I'm not sure why this picture resonates with me so deeply, but since I started my research the Kelleher side of my family just calls to me and I feel the strongest connection with them.

  1. Lucky to have Mary Polly's photo. That's amazing.
