Ida Wallingford Riggs

Ida Wallingford and her twin brother Ira born on January 19 1909 in Cody, Nebraska. They were the first of THREE sets of boy girl twins born to their parents Pearl Frazie and James Wallingford. When Ira and Ida were just over a year old in March 1910 their brother and sister Ethel and Edward were born, followed by Orace and Olive in May of 1913. James was a farmer and raised his children to help him with the work. After 1920 the family moved from their home in Nebraska to Bennett, South Dakota. Ida finished her schooling and became a public school teacher.

On December 22 1931 Ida married Alfred Riggs. Alfred was a farmer from Indiana who had traveled west to follow the wheat harvest and met Ida along the way. After the wedding Alfred got a Trucking job and they moved to Indiana. The couple had two children, Ronald (1933) and Barbara (1936). As the kids got older the family moved around from Kentucky, to Tennessee, and eventually back to Ida's hometown in South Dakota.

She was survived by her husband, 2 children, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and her brothers Ira, Edward, and her sisters Ethel and Olive. Unable to live without his love Alfred passed away just 3 months later.
